Set the target before the design

A sustainability strategy begins with an explicit target: which certification, what rating, on what commercial basis. That decision shapes everything downstream, so it is made early and recorded in the project brief.

Carry it through design and tender

The strategy lives in the design requirements, the calculations and specifications, and the tender documents that make compliance a priced, contractual obligation. Passing sustainability requirements into the contract is what turns a stated ambition into a delivered outcome.

Protect it on site

Through construction, the strategy is protected by verification: material submittals checked against requirements, audits conducted, and documentation maintained. This is the least glamorous and most decisive phase.

Certification as the finish line

Done well, certification is the natural conclusion of a process that began at concept. The strategy, the documentation and the evidence all exist because they were planned. That is the difference between a rating fought for and a rating earned.
